For parents of learner drivers

You want your child to be safe on the road.
So do we.

Lessons2Drive was built by people who have sat on the other side of the clipboard — as official VicRoads Licence Testing Officers. We know exactly what keeps young drivers safe, and exactly what fails them.

What we hear from parents

Sound familiar?

These are the most common concerns parents bring to us. If any of these resonate, you're in the right place.

"I've been supervising their practice but I'm not sure I'm doing it right."
You're probably doing better than you think. But supervised driving with a parent builds habits — good and bad. If you're not sure what VicRoads is actually assessing, it's hard to know what to reinforce. We tell you after every lesson exactly what to focus on during your practice sessions together.
"They seem confident at home but I'm worried about the test."
Confidence on familiar roads is not the same as VicRoads test readiness. The test route is unfamiliar, the pressure is high, and the assessment criteria are very specific. We practice on the real test routes in your suburb — so your child knows every intersection before test day.
"They've already failed once and I don't know what went wrong."
This is one of the most common calls we receive. In most cases, the student was never taught what VicRoads actually assesses. We run a full assessment lesson using real VicRoads marking criteria and give you a complete debrief of exactly what went wrong and how to fix it.
"I want to make sure they choose the right driving school."
The right question. Most driving schools teach general driving skills. We teach to the VicRoads assessment standard — because our instructors have sat in the tester's seat. That's a fundamental difference, and it's why our students pass faster and drive safer long-term.

What makes us different

We partner with you — not just your child

Most driving schools teach your child and send them home. We include you in the process.

📋
After-lesson feedback for parents
After every lesson, we give you specific feedback on what was covered, what went well, and what to reinforce during your own supervised drives. Your 120 hours become far more effective when they build on our lessons.
📐
Classroom teaching before every drive
Every lesson starts with a whiteboard briefing. Before your child touches the steering wheel, they understand what they're about to practice and exactly how VicRoads assesses it. They can explain the why — not just follow instructions.
🎯
We find the habits that fail students silently
The most common reason confident learner drivers fail is small automatic habits nobody has told them about. Looking in the wrong mirror. A slow green-light reaction. A blindspot check in the wrong direction. We find and fix these before test day.
🛡️
Working With Children Checks — every instructor
Every Lessons2Drive instructor holds a current Working With Children Check (Victoria). You can ask to see it at any time. Safety and professionalism are non-negotiable for us.
👀
You can sit in on any lesson
We actively encourage parents to observe at least one lesson. When you see how we teach and what we look for, your supervised drives become far more effective. Just let us know when booking.
🗺️
Real test routes — every lesson
We practice on the actual VicRoads test routes at your nearest test centre. By test day, every intersection, roundabout, and speed transition is completely familiar to your child — not something they're seeing for the first time.

From a parent who's been through it

What parents say about us

"I couldn't speak more highly of Lessons2Drive and the experience they provided for my son. A standout differentiator was the level of communication with us as parents — Lessons2Drive didn't just teach, they partnered with us. We received clear, practical feedback on how we could reinforce the training at home. The outcome speaks for itself — he passed his driving test on his first attempt. You're not just teaching people to pass a test — you're setting them up to be safe, confident drivers for life."

120 supervised hours

How to make your 120 hours actually count

Victoria requires learners under 21 to log 120 hours of supervised driving. Here's how to make every hour as effective as possible.

1
Reinforce what we teach — don't introduce different habits
The most important thing you can do as a supervising driver is reinforce what your child is learning in lessons. If we've shown them the correct way to check a blindspot, practise that exact technique. After every lesson, ask your child to explain what they learned — it helps it stick.
2
Use the specific feedback we give you after each lesson
After every lesson, we tell you exactly what to practise that week. Use it. If we say "work on observation at intersections", make that the focus of your next two or three practice drives. Targeted practice beats general driving every time.
3
Vary the conditions — freeway, night, wet weather, car parks
Don't wait until the last few hours to tick off freeway driving, night driving, and wet weather. Build them in progressively so your child is genuinely comfortable in all conditions before test day.
4
Log every hour accurately in the myLearners app
Every lesson with us counts toward the 120 hours — we'll remind you to log it. VicRoads can request your logbook on test day. An incomplete or inaccurate log can cause problems even if your child drives beautifully.
5
Stay calm — your reaction shapes their confidence
Your child will make mistakes during private practice. How you react matters enormously. Staying calm and giving clear simple instructions is exactly what we do in lessons. The more you mirror that approach, the faster your child progresses.

Choosing the right school

Questions every parent should ask a driving school

Not all driving schools are equal. Lessons2Drive answers yes to every one of these.

Do your instructors know what VicRoads specifically assesses — not just general road rules?
Do you explain the reason behind every driving action, or just give instructions?
Do you practice on the actual test routes at our nearest VicRoads centre?
Do you give parents specific feedback after every lesson?
Do all your instructors hold current Working With Children Checks?
Do you run mock tests using real VicRoads marking criteria before the actual test?
If my child fails, will you tell me exactly what went wrong and how to fix it?

Pricing

Which package is right for my child?

Not sure where to start? Here's our honest recommendation based on where your child is right now.

Just getting started
$110
90 min first lesson — recommended
We recommend 90 or 120 minutes for a first lesson. The first 30–40 minutes are classroom-style whiteboard teaching before we get on the road. A longer first lesson means they actually drive after the briefing.
Book first lesson
Already failed the test
$280
Assessment + drive test
Start with an assessment lesson. We'll tell you exactly what went wrong and give you a realistic plan. Most students who fail once are test-ready within 3–5 targeted lessons.

FAQ

Questions parents ask us

Can I sit in on the lesson?

Yes — and we actively encourage it, especially for an early lesson. When you see how we teach and what we look for, your own supervised drives become far more effective. Just let us know when you book via WhatsApp.

How many lessons will my child need?

Every learner is different. After the first lesson we give you an honest assessment and a realistic plan. Some students need 5 lessons combined with good private practice. Others need 12–15. We will never tell you your child is ready when they're not, and we will never recommend more lessons than necessary.

Do your lessons count toward the 120 hours?

Yes. Every lesson with a licensed driving instructor counts toward the 120-hour requirement. Log it in the myLearners app or physical logbook immediately after each lesson. We'll remind you.

What if my child is really nervous about driving?

Nervous students are some of our most successful. We start slowly, in quiet areas, with no pressure. We never put a student in a situation they're not ready for. Our instructors are specifically trained to work with anxious drivers. See our nervous drivers page for more.

Can I choose a male or female instructor?

Yes. We have both male and female instructors available. Just let us know your preference when you book via WhatsApp and we'll match accordingly.

What car do you use? Is it safe?

We use modern, well-maintained automatic vehicles fitted with dual controls — meaning the instructor has their own brake pedal at all times. Your child is completely safe from the very first second of the very first lesson.

Where do lessons start? Do you come to our house?

Lessons start from your chosen location — home, school, or anywhere convenient — within our service areas. Lesson time begins when we arrive, so every minute counts toward your child's learning.

Ready to book your child's first lesson?

Message us on WhatsApp or call 040 000 8706. Tell us your child's experience level, which suburb you're in, and your instructor preference — we'll handle the rest.
