What areas do you provide driving lessons in?
We are a leading local driving school with expert instructors serving Melbourne’s western suburbs and beyond. Our main service areas are Point Cook, Werribee, and Deer Park. We also provide comprehensive lessons in and around other popular suburbs, including Hoppers Crossing, Tarneit, Truganina, and Williams Landing.
We are highly familiar with the specific test routes at major VicRoads centres, including Werribee VicRoads, Melton VicRoads, Deer Park VicRoads, Sunbury VicRoads and Bundoora VicRoads. We can arrange pick-up and drop-off from a convenient location, such as your home, work, or school.
How many lessons will I need to pass my test?
There is no minimum number of lessons, as every learner is different. The number of lessons you need depends on your previous experience, how quickly you learn, and your confidence level. We offer a free assessment on your first lesson to give you a personalised plan and estimate of how many hours you may need.
What makes Lessons2Drive different from other driving schools?
Our key difference is our expertise. We are staffed by accredited ex-VicRoads assessors who know exactly what examiners look for during the drive test. Our training is based on official VicRoads standards, giving you the best chance of passing on your first attempt. We also focus on real test routes and defensive driving, preparing you to be a safe driver for life.
Do you offer lessons in both automatic and manual cars?
Currently, Lessons2Drive focuses on automatic lessons as they’re the most common choice for learners in Victoria.
Do you offer a drive test package?
Yes, we offer tailored VicRoads drive test preparation packages that include a pre-test warm-up lesson, a mock test, and the use of our car for the official test. We help you prepare for the test in your local area.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, we require at least 24 hours’ notice for any lesson cancellation. This allows us to offer the time slot to another student. Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a cancellation fee.
Can a parent or supervising driver sit in on the lesson?
We highly encourage a parent or supervising driver to sit in on a lesson. This allows them to observe our teaching methods and learn the best way to supervise you during private practice sessions.
What should I bring on my drive test day?
On the day of your drive test, you must bring the following:
- For Victorian learners: Your Victorian learner permit, either your physical card or the digital version on your phone via the myVicRoads or Service Victoria app.
- For overseas license holders: Your original overseas driving license. If it is not in English, you must also provide an official English translation (by a NAATI-accredited translator).
- Your myLearners app or a completed logbook showing your 120 hours of supervised driving (if applicable).
- It is also a good idea to wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water. We recommend carrying your physical license card as a backup in case of any issues with your phone or network.
Do I need 120 hours of driving before my test in Victoria?
Yes, if you are a Victorian learner driver under 21 years old, you must log at least 120 hours of supervised driving (including 20 hours at night) before you can book your VicRoads drive test.
Important Note for Overseas License Holders: If you are an overseas license holder and are under 21, you are generally not required to complete the 120 hours of supervised driving. You may be exempt from this requirement and can proceed to book your VicRoads drive test directly, as your previous overseas driving experience is recognised. We can help you navigate the process of converting your overseas license and preparing for your test.
10. If I have an overseas license and I'm under 21, will I get a Red P (P1) or a Green P (P2)?
The type of probationary license you receive in Victoria depends on your age and the total amount of time you have held your overseas license.
- If you are under 21 years old:
- You will be issued a Red P (P1) probationary license if you have held your overseas license for less than 12 months (from your 18th birthday).
- You will be issued a Green P (P2) probationary license if you have held your overseas license for more than 12 months (from your 18th birthday).
- You will be issued a Red P (P1) probationary license if you have held your overseas license for less than 12 months (from your 18th birthday).
- If you are 21 years old or older:
- You will be issued a Green P (P2) probationary license if you have held your overseas license for less than three years.
- You are eligible for a full Victorian license if you have held your overseas license for more than three years.
- You will be issued a Green P (P2) probationary license if you have held your overseas license for less than three years.
What if I got my overseas license before I turned 18?
The clock for your license experience starts from your 18th birthday. For example, if you got your license at 17, and you are now 20, VicRoads will count your experience as two years, not three. You will need to provide official documents to verify the issue date of your overseas license, which can be done through a license verification letter from your country’s issuing authority or consulate.
